Home Fun Projects Volunteer Projects Culpeper	Culpeper County was chartered in 1749, and named for Lord Thomas Culpeper, Colonial Governor of Virginia, 1680-1683. The Town of Culpeper was chartered in 1759 as the Town of Fairfax, and was named after Lord Culpeper's grandson, Lord Fairfax the sixth. Culpeper offers a unique combination of small-town charm and metropolitan amenities, thus offering an excellent quality of life.
