Madison County
Madison County was established in December, 1792. It is a pastoral area in Central Virginia with low crime rate, beautiful mountains and foothills, and great quality of life. The county is named for the Madison family from which President James Madison is descended. Madison County is home to Old Rag Mountain, or simply Old Rag, a popular climbing destination in the Shenandoah National Park.
